Giulia Osella

Born in 1989 in Ivrea (Turin), she undertook a path of medical-scientific studies, from 2011 she is a nurse specialized in the surgical field.

Despite an unconventional, but intrinsically rich artistic education dedication, through in-depth study and constant experimentation personal, the artist has dedicated time and energy to the exploration of color, of composition and perfecting her technical skills. This commitment has led to the development of a distinctive personal style, characterized by expressiveness profound and continuous research within her pictorial practice.

Her works, which have been placed, since the beginning, in various important contexts, they are rapidly gaining recognition and interest in the art world contemporary, highlighting the ability to explore subtle emotional nuances and translate them onto canvas through completely innovative and distinctive artistic research.

My artistic research draws inspiration from Jungian theories of James Hillman, well-known philosopher and psychoanalyst, exploring the concepts of destiny, innate vocation and “Daimon”. According to Hillman, the Daimon represents an inner guide, a strength that embodies the true essence of every human being. From this perspective, each of the my works becomes an inner journey, aimed at connecting with the own authenticity and self-understanding. The common thread that unites the my works aims to stimulate reflection on the utopian search for perfection, an ideal with which we often clash. Every work, if observed from afar, it might seem apparently perfect, almost a print; however, reducing the distance between the canvas and the eye of the observer, a myriad of can be seen imperfections. This aspect, paradoxically, could be considered an added value. As opposed to being a hypothetical perfect print and perhaps reproducible in series, the inaccuracies they make each canvas unique and unrepeatable. The metaphor of the works yes thus extends to human experience, highlighting how sometimes we feel obliged to conform to standards, to pursue objectives which may not truly reflect who we are.

Fear of judgment often drives us to despise or seek to change some of our characteristics, ignoring the true beauty lies in accepting and valuing all our peculiarities, even those that we consider less appreciable by the outside world.

My works are an invitation to become aware of our own innate distinctive traits, following a personal path to make one’s life is unique and unrepeatable, as each of us is. Everything is fine brushstroke, every shape in my works is a testimony to this inner journey, an invitation to delve into the depths of own soul. I hope that those who observe my works can find inspiration in recognizing and embracing one’s own authenticity, in search for a profound balance between what we show to the world external and our true essence. My works want to be a praise to the beauty of human imperfection, to the freedom of being completely themselves.

How many times do we tend to be perfect, only to then understand that the acceptance of our imperfection is the real achievement
happiness for our soul? – by Beatrice Cordaro ( Art historian and Curator)

Although there is an aesthetic difference in terms of arrangement of elements and chromatic choice, all the works of art by

Giulia Osella were born from the same structure conceptual and technical, and are therefore linked by the same thread

philosophical rouge. Linearity and geometric regularity, which yes extends both vertically and horizontally into the canvases, conceals

the intention to propose – through methodical gestures – a utopian search for perfection which in reality it is impossible to achieve. Like an oxymoron, in fact, this attempt at perfection is expressed in ever-changing brushstrokes and imperfect but nevertheless resulting in a given added value by the uniqueness and exact irreproducibility of that particular compositional scheme.

At the same time, Giulia Osella’s geometries are contained within a tripartite structure that recalls the simultaneity of the phases of

an internal journey: the beginning, the path and the arrival point; the socket of consciousness, processing and acceptance. About her Her grills in fact, they culminate in a circular element that becomes the fulcrum of the works by her: “Il Daimon”, and which from a conceptual point of view refers to the idea of guiding spirit and voice of the soul. Through her art, Giulia tries to move a profound reflection on the discrepancy between exteriority and interiority, and to importance of the acceptance of one’s innate uniqueness and the search for own life purpose.
